Merry Christmas to all of you!!! We are so thrilled that you are surrounded by all of your loved ones...there is no better Christmas gift than that!!!
On this very special day...we remember one solitary life. "He was born in an obscure village. He worked in a carpenter's shop until He was thirty and for those years He was an itinerant preacher. He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never owned a home. He never had a family. He never went to college. He never traveled 200 miles from the place where He was born. He never did one of the things that accompany man's idea of greatness. He had no credentials but Himself. While still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against Him. His friends ran away. Some of them denied Him. He was turned over to His enemies. He went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While He was dying His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had on earth - His coat. When He was dead, He was taken down and laid in a borrowed grave. Nineteen centuries have come and gone and today He is the central figure of the human race. All the armies that ever marched, and all the navies that were ever built, and all the parliaments that ever sat, and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have never affected the life of man upon earth as powerfully as has that one solitary life."
On this blessed Christmas day and ALWAYS, may you share FULLY in the HOPE that Jesus' birth brought to our world. It is that amazing gift He gave that you will hold on to...that WILL answer all of the prayers being said in your name Val...this gift WILL bring you to the winner's circle!
We are with you and your family in spirit! We are praying fervently that 2006 will bring all that you have asked for...tenacious doctors...clear answers...GREAT results on your PET scan...and complete healing.
God Bless you...every single one of you! We love you!
Love, Kerry, Jay, and Kendall

Val -
I read your website daily and also Mark and Marianne's. I have even faxed some of the information concerning the addition of Avastin to your treatment regimen to our oncologist at UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center in Birmingham, AL.
Sam was diagnosed with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma in September 2004. He had surgery in January 2005 and is presently on Gemzar and Oxaliplatin every two weeks (he does have some mets to the lungs and chest wall). Sam's surgery was a little different from Mark's in that the doctor was able to perform radio frequency ablation on the tumor but could not do the liver resection as was planned. Sam is a very determined individual (stubborn might be a better choice of words - just kidding!!). He refuses all pain medication and has not missed any work except for the 7 days for the liver surgery and the days that he has a treatment. He drives himself to Birmingham for his treatment (250 miles round trip), will not let anybody go with him, takes a 5 hr. chemo treatment and is back at work the next day. I keep wondering how much longer he will be able to push himself this hard; Sam turned 64 this past September. Sam has been a serious runner for the past 20 years and actually thought about running some yesterday. I have no doubt that if he is thinking about it, he will be out there in his jogging shoes before too long.
I think Sam's attitude, his Faith in God and all of the prayer that we have received from our friends and family are the reasons that he has done so well. Sam always says it is just a little bump in the road (he refuses to let the situation get him down). He doesn't worry too much about it. You have all of the above - a wonderful family, Faith in God and a multitude of friends asking God to perform His miracle of healing and so does Mark and Marianne. My very best to all of you and lets hope that 2006 will be a wonderful year for everyone.

Dear Val;

Hope you are having a great time with your family, and that your Christmas was blessed with His peace and joy!! I miss you and hope to see you soon! I am so ready to get going on our mission to start this foundation! I know Kerry is too, and I know it's God's purpose for us to do so! With His blessing it's gonna be groundbreakingly huge! Aunt Char is right, someday (soon I pray) the doctors worldwide will be talking about Valerie McCrea, the gal from San Marcos that beat Cholangiocarcinoma!! I just know it!! If I don't see you before New Years, have a happy one! God bless you and keep you my dear friend!! Praying for a miraculous 2006!
Love, Osil:)

Val,
I didn't realize there was another Marianne & Mark. I will put our last name on the blog to decipher us.
I hope that your time spent with your family has brought you joy and happiness over the Christmas holiday. I hope that you have had fun at the beach, playing games and just spending time with your family.
We think of you everyday and pray that 2006 brings you all of your prayers answered and that your cancer is gone.
Happy New Year to you and your family Val & Chris.

Love,love,love

Mark Hines & Marianne Rose
