Thursdays News

Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers and wonderful food. We have definitely felt them over the last few days. We had a hard few days in L.A. On my laproscopy procedure they found some spots on my diaphram which was unexpected. Therefore, I am on more of a Chemotherapy treatment instead of surgery at this point. Please pray that:

1. The Chemotherapy that has been prescribed will be effective at keeping the cancer at bay and will shrink the tumors
2. I am very sore from the surgery and having a port put in my arm for the medicine. Pray that I can recovery quickly
3. Pray that my Chemotherapy treatment goes well on Tuesday and my side effects are few.
4. Pray for my family and extended family for strengh as they are all tired as well.
5. I have been discouraged the last few days and need prayer for strength, encouragement, courage and a true peace that God is in control of all things!

O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you: my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is not water, I have seen you in the sanctuary and behold your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you---Ps 63;1-3

Dear Val;
I read this story today, it is about a little boy who awoke, frightened in the night. The boy toddled off to find his parents and woke up his father with his mournful sobs. The father returned to the son's bedroom with him and promised to lie down beside the boy's little bed until the child fell asleep again. They lay there in the darkness awhile and then the little boy whispered, "Daddy? I can't see you. Are you still there?" "Yes, son, I am here." The boy lay still a moment, then the father heard his voice again. "I can't see you, Daddy. Is your face turned toward me?" "Yes, son, my face is turned toward you." Sometimes we ask the same questions of our own Father. Are you still there, God? Can you see me? Is your face turned toward me? The answer is still the same, even though it may not seem that way: Always! He will never leave you nor forsake you..

The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
Isaiah 58:11

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:20

Rest now, my friend, and keep your chin up, and when it gets to heavy, the Lord will send His angels to hold it up for you.

"The Lord bless you and keep you: the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace."

Have peace in Him tonight, rest in His mighty arms, He is in control. He knows your name, He knows your every thought, He sees each tear that falls, and hears you when you call Him, your Father, in the night.

Praying for you constantly!
Love, Osil :):):)

Dear Valerie,
I heard about your situation from a friend and found your blog. I daily pray for you, your husband, your precious boys, your family and friends. It is so difficult to know what God is doing, but we can put our faith and trust in His gracious love. He is always dependable. I am sorry to hear that you are discouraged. When I get discouraged I take it to him, I often get mad at Him in my prayers and I know He understands my heart and pain. I am so thankful that He can carry my burden especially when it seems no one else can. Thank you for sharing your heart. I hope to meet you one day. You are a beautiful woman of God!

Dear Valerie,
We are praying Valerie...we are praying. I know we have all heard and read the poem "Footprints"...do not get discouraged. Remember the poem...He NEVER leaves us unattended. When the times arise that are difficult...it is then that only one set of footprints can be seen. As sure as I breathe, I believe there are only one set of footprints on your path right now. God is carrying you...He is carrying your whole family. And we will continue to pray...He will hear us and answer. Valerie, stay strong in your faith...stay strong in knowing you can and will fight this...visualize that "winner's circle"...see yourself standing there...You will be!
And we are here for you and your family for anything you need.
And most importantly...
"But you, O Lord are always my shield from danger, you give me victory and restore my courage," Psalm 3:3
"Your Promise revives me, it comforts me in all my troubles." Psalm 119:50
God bless you and your family...
Love,
Kerry Randall

Oh Val...I am praying for you! I so wish I was closer to give you a hug, comfort, support, whatever you might need. I know you are surrounded by love and such an abundance of faith. That in itself is so encouraging. I believe as many others due, that God is using you to minister to so many. I was surfing the internet, thinking of what I could write that would encourage, inspire, support you, and let you know how much your loved...I was led to the following...

Yoga for the day...

Inhale peace; exhale espair.”
“Breathe in hope; blow out fear.”
“Inhale healing; exhale disease.”
“Breathe in love; blow out turmoil.”

What Cancer Cannot Do
Cancer is so limited…
It cannot cripple love,
It cannot shatter hope,
It cannot corrode faith,
It cannot eat away peace,
It cannot destroy confidence,
It cannot kill friendship,
It cannot shut out memories,
It cannot silence courage,
It cannot invade the soul,
It cannot reduce eternal life,
It cannot quench the spirit,
It cannot lessen the power of God.

Val my prayer for you and your family gets stronger everyday.

My Thanksgiving prayer for you...
I'm thankful for your faith,
I'm thankful for your strength,
I'm thankful for your family,
I'm thankful your my friend.

With Love,
Jody

Val and Chris and family,

As many others have said, we don't know you personally but have been continuing to pray that the Lord will show His presence in ways you can see each day. It does not make the journey any shorter, but please know that there are so many of us lifting you all to the Lord many times each day and night. You are precious to the Lord and He has not left you alone in this difficult time.

You are in our thoughts and prayers daily! I am encouraged by your strength! Please remember John 8:12 "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Please let me know if you need anything at all.

My dear friend;
My prayers are with you now and tomorrow as you join your troops at Cedar Sinai to fight this enemy that has attacked you and declared war against you. I know the enemy seems so big right now, but you have the best General and Commander in Chief on your side; Jesus Chist, our maker, our savior, our healer, our best friend. He holds you in His hands! I wanted to give you Psalm 91 as my prayer for you;

Psalm 91
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
"Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.

I pray that everything will go smoothly tomorrow, and that the Lord will put His mighty hands on those tumors, and heal you completely. I pray that you would feel His presence around you, and His loving hands in yours. Nothing is impossible for Him who created the Heavens and the earth.
Love in Him, Osil

Val,
As a mother to your boys, I write to calm your fears and concerns.
Your mom was there with me when my baby was so sick. I was afraid to lay her down to sleep, afraid I wouldn't wake up when she'd stop breathing during the night. And your mom helped me to realize something very, very important. This is God's child, placed in my care for as many days as He gives. How precious are the days and the moments God allows us to connect with our children. For, they are really His, and he has given us the precious moments to hold them. It can be so easy to worry. He can watch over. Let Him. Your boys are so precious.

Now I pass back to your family the lesson of so many years ago. Each of you are God's children, in our care for as many days as He gives.
With that sweet thought may you endure your treatements or sleep peacefully, when you can. Without the worry. He loves. He cares. He watches over each one.

The little baby I spoke of knows and holds your boys. She's Sarah

Val,
As I have followed this site, I have been awed by the enormity of the outpouring of love and support from so many. It is inspiring and moving. More important than what that says about all of us though, is what it says about you. It is obvious that as a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a friend and an extended family member, you have touched many lives, and with strength, grace and faith, left an indelible mark on each. We should all strive for such quality of character. Stay strong.

With all love, hope and optimism,
Cousin Brad, Laura and Maegan
