Latest News From USC

Val's temperature was back to normal this morning. She does have a blood infection. I don't know the details of the treatment or speculation as to the source. We always suspect the stent but don't really know for sure. I think she has completed her CT scan by now. This was critical because she hasn't had anything to eat for 24 hours. She is at 111 pounds, only one pound above her lowest weight. Our target is to get her back to 125 pounds.

I had planned to relieve Chris tomorrow at noon so he could take care of job related business. Then Julie called from San Luis Obispo saying she was heading toward LA. The latest news from Nancy is that Val is hoping to get sprung tomorrow morning so she can Trick or Treat in San Marcos tomorrow night.

I am sure Dr. Lenz will touch bases with her today. We were scheduled for Chemo on Thursday and a PET next week.

I am in awe of what a warrior Val is. I recently finished a book called "River of Doubt" that chronicled a journey by Teddy Roosevelt down an unexplored river in the Amazon. Although faced with peril every day, I could not help but think that Val's journey is tenfold more difficult.

The sad thing about Teddy's journey is that he never cried out to God Most High, the Ancient of Days .

We do.

God is listening, he is clearing the way for her to come home as planned. We can visualize health and vitality, we can visualize a cancer free and infection free Val. Help us all to be patient with His will and His way.
